Thump Thump..
Thump Thump..
My friend, Jeff’s heart almost stopped.
Actually-
He wished it stopped as he can’t believe what just happened.
He called me and said he needed to talk and it’s urgent.
I met him at a coffee shop.
I’ve never seen him this serious and stressed.
“What’s going on?” I asked
His face was ghostly pale.
“OMG, please just tell me.” I insisted, I took a deep breathe myself.
“I am so stupid, it’s my fault!” He confessed.
“What is?” I asked
“Please be specific, you are panicking me!” I said
“My money is gone!” He said.
“What do you mean, Jeff?”
I asked again.
“My money is gone!” He cried.
It turned out someone reached out to him from Facebook messenger, a month prior.
She was a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend…
Anyways, she’s someone he has never met in person.
And she urged him to open a foreign investment account to invest…
She claimed, “I will match the amount you invest in to help your money grow faster!” He recalled.
Jeff did what he was told.
He opened a foreign investment account and transferred $250,000.
He checked his account balance daily.
He couldn’t focus at work!
That’s all of his life’s savings.
He kept thinking that she promised to use her expertise to help his money quadruple to $1 million dollars.
The next day, she matched $250,000.
Total balance at the end of day 2 was $500,000.
He felt reassured.
On day 3, money increased.
By the end of week 3, it was $1 million dollars.
He was ecstatic!
Then, the nightmare began the next day.
He logged into his account.
Total balance was $0.00.
The rest is history.
